BRISTOL CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU TO HOST 2008 WAL-MART BASS FISHING TOURNAMENT, APRIL 19, 2008, SOUTH HOLSTON LAKE
Bristol TN: The Volunteer Division of the $8.8 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League (BFL) will visit South Holston Lake in Bristol, Tenn. / Va., April 19 for the third of five regular-season events. Hosted in conjunction with the Bristol Convention and Visitors Bureau, the event is excepted to draw as many as 150 boaters and co-anglers from 9 states to compete in the tournament, which will award as much as $45,000 in cash, including a top award of $6,000 in the Boater Division.
Anglers may register April 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wal-Mart store located at 220 Century Blvd. in Bristol, Tenn. Entry fees are $200 for boaters and $100 for co-anglers.
Observation Knob Park in Bristol, Tenn., will host the takeoff and weigh-in at 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Eastern time, respectively.
With assistance from Sullivan County, the Bristol Convention and Visitors Bureau is excited to be able to host this great tournament for the second consecutive year.
In BFL competition, boaters supply the boat and compete from the front deck against other boaters. Co-anglers compete from the back deck against other co-anglers.

NEW HISTORIC DOWNTOWN SELF-GUIDED AUDIO WALKING TOUR
The Bristol Convention and Visitors Bureau (Bristol CVB) announces the completion of a new, historic downtown walking tour for Bristol. This self-guided audio tour showcases cutting-edge technology and allows visitors to stroll through historic downtown Bristol. The historic downtown Bristol audio tour highlights the storied legends, landmarks, events, attractions, and unique heritage of Bristol.
With assistance from the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance (BCMA) and the Believe in Bristol - Main Street Program, the Bristol CVB utilized MP3 technology to showcase the historic downtown area. “Bristol has a rich heritage that many people are still discovering,” said Matt Bolas, Executive Director of the Bristol CVB. “We felt a need to provide visitors to our community an easily accessible, entertaining, and educational outlet for people to learn more about our vibrant and preserved downtown. NASCAR ANNOUNCES 2008 BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY RACE WEEKENDS
There will be a slight change for one of the two NASCAR dates at Bristol Motor Speedway for next year as the sanctioning body announced its 2008 Sprint Cup Series Schedule.
While the Food City 500 weekend at racing's most popular NASCAR venue will remain in March, the event will be March 14-16 in 2008. The action-packed schedule begins with Pole Day March 14, the Sharpie Mini 300 March 15, culminating with the Food City 500 March 16.
The Sharpie 500 Sprint Cup race, along with the Food City 250 event, will be held Aug. 22-23 while the O'Reilly 200 Craftsman Truck Series/Food City 150 Hooter's Pro Cup doubleheader will be held on Aug. 20. more info...
